You can check in to your pitch from 1:00 PM. Upon departure, you must vacate the pitch by 11:00 AM. For the Lodgetents, you can check in from 4:00 PM. You must vacate the Lodgetent by 10:00 AM at the latest on departure.
There is good working internet throughout the campsite via Wi-Fi. The internet is fast enough for most standard tasks, including (video) calls. The use of the internet is free. Faster internet for activities such as streaming is available for a fee. However, watching Netflix is never possible due to the Starlink satellite internet connection.
At the start of the campsite in 2005-2009, we planted tree belts with a beautiful variety of young trees on the grassy fields. Some of these now provide a significant part of the day’s shade. Some of the comfort pitches (5 to 8) and our Comfort Plus pitches are located at the foot of a wooded hill and only have a few hours of sun in the afternoon. Our Basic pitches (including the Basic L and Basic XL), which were added later, are still predominantly sunny.
Our Lodgetent type L is mostly sunny, but there are also some that enjoy some shade during the day due to surrounding trees. The Lodgetent types LB and LX are located in a forested area on the higher campsite grounds and therefore provide more shade.
It is worth mentioning that although it can be sunny and warm during the day, it often cools down nicely in the evening. In general, there is also a light breeze, so it never gets unbearably hot. Our guests often create their own shade during the day with awnings or tarps (which can be rented from us if needed). The caravan or tent is usually only used as a sleeping place, and by the time it is used, it has cooled down nicely for a good night’s rest.
Towels are not provided in the Lodgetent. You will need to bring your own. Bed linen sets are available for rent, but you are welcome to bring your own as well.
Following the advice of Consumers' Associations, our camping cots do not come with a mattress. Below is the relevant text:
A camping bed with an extra mattress can be unsafe for several reasons:
Suffocation
An extra mattress for a camping bed is often soft and about 5 centimeters thick. This can be dangerous for babies. If a baby rolls onto their stomach, they may end up with their face pressed into the mattress, which can cause suffocation.
Do not use loose blankets to make the mattress softer. Loose bedding can also pose a suffocation hazard, especially for babies who cannot move the bedding themselves.
Pinching between the mattresses
The original mattress with a firm base is needed for stability. An extra mattress should be placed on the original mattress. However, two mattresses stacked on top of each other may shift. The child could also lift the extra mattress, potentially getting their head stuck between the two mattresses, or between the mattress and the side of the bed, which is dangerous.
Climbing out of the bed
With an extra mattress in the camping bed, the bed becomes shallower. This makes it easier, especially for toddlers, to climb out of the travel cot. This makes the cot with an extra mattress also less safe for older children.
Our baker delivers fresh rolls from Monday to Saturday. Rolls (white and cereal rolls and croissants) can be ordered until 8:00 PM. You can do this via the order button in our app. You can also order toppings like ham, salami, cheese, and eggs. The rolls will be ready for pickup at the bar from 8:30 AM the next day.
In a corner of the bar, we have a small selection of non-perishable food items and other products.
We have two 11 kW charging points for electric cars. Due to the lack of a stable 5G GSM network in our valley, regular payment cards do not work for these chargers. If you would like to charge your car with us, you can obtain a charging card with credit for a charging session at the bar/reception. The costs can be settled when returning the card at the bar or added to your bill and paid upon departure.
No, we do not have organized entertainment at the campsite. Due to our small-scale nature and our deliberate decision not to offer animation, we have seen a wonderful atmosphere among children over the years, which also positively impacts their parents. In practice, children easily find each other around the swimming pool, ping pong table, beach volleyball court, or the stream.
Nothing is compulsory, and there is no social or time pressure from an entertainment program. This creates many beautiful new connections and friendships among the children. Parents, as we have learned, also enjoy their well-deserved vacation even more because of this.
During the summer months, we mainly welcome families with children up to around 12-14 years old. However, there is usually also a nice group of older children who can entertain themselves well with each other and the available facilities.
Reservations can be made online via our website. To do so, select the "Info & Booking" option at the top of the menu on the far right. After approval of your request, you will automatically receive the bank and payment details.
Cancellations are possible up to 42 days before the arrival date. Your deposit will be refunded, minus a €30.00 administration fee. In case of early departure, you will be charged for the entire reserved period. We recommend taking out cancellation insurance.
For the camping pitches, arrival and departure are possible every day. The Lodgetent type L has Saturday as the fixed changeover day, while the Lodgetent types LB and LX have Monday and Friday as the fixed changeover days.
For the Comfort Plus pitches and all types of Lodgetents, a minimum stay of 3 nights applies in the low and high seasons. During the high season, a minimum stay of 7 nights is required.
We strive to ensure that reservations are optimally coordinated, but we reserve the right to change pitch numbers during the booking season unless a "Preferred Pitch" has been paid for and a specific pitch number has been blocked for you.
Since we are not located on the outskirts of a village with alternative dining options, you will understand that it is advisable to make a reservation when the campsite is full. This helps prevent waiting times and allows us to provide optimal service. Our goal is always quality over quantity.
You can reserve your table at the bar.
In our restaurant, we also offer some gluten-free products (such as pasta and pizza). However, our kitchen is not set up to guarantee that everything can be prepared 100% gluten-free. Of course, we do our utmost to make this possible. For example, the gluten-free pizzas are cooked in a gas oven, which is not used for anything else. We kindly ask you to let us know in advance which gluten-free pizza you would like to have, so that we can make the necessary preparations. This also applies to any pasta dishes.
Certainly, all the wines (about 60!) on our list are available for sale individually or by the case (while stocks last). If you place your order a few days before departure, we will ensure that your order is ready for you when you leave.
Tenuta Squaneto is located on the border of the provinces of Piedmont and Liguria, in a small valley along a little river, somewhat hidden from the inhabited world. The nearest village with a few shops is about 6 km from the campsite.
The first larger town with bigger supermarkets is Cairo Montenotte (towards the coast), which can be reached in approximately 20 minutes.
Nature lovers, especially those who enjoy sports, appreciate the peaceful location of the campsite and head out for walks or bike rides (either mountain biking or road cycling).
Additionally, the campsite is frequently used as a base for excursions to the coast, the wine region around Alba and Asti. Charming provincial towns like Acqui Terme and Canelli are also visited for weekly markets or small-scale shopping opportunities. The city of Genoa is about 1 hour and 15 minutes away, and Turin and occasionally Milan are also visited for day trips.
In our app (available for download on our homepage), you'll find more options for excursions in the surrounding area.
Due to our location, public transport is not available directly to the campsite. The nearest train station is in Piana Crixia, approximately 6 kilometers away. Buses do run to the various surrounding villages.
The nearest large supermarkets are a 20-minute drive from the campsite. In the surrounding villages (about 5 kilometers away), there are also a few small local shops (alimentari).
We welcome many guests with (including larger) caravans/motorhomes. We do recommend following our directions (as outlined on our website) and not using navigation. Additionally, our campsite is well signposted from Spigno Monferrato. The difficulty level, of course, depends on the driver's experience. The last 12 km are narrow in some places, but the roads are well-paved, very quiet, and manageable with a caravan.
The nearest airport is Genoa, about a 75-minute drive away. However, airports in Milan (about 2 hours), Bergamo (about 2.5 hours), Turin (about 1.5 hours), and Nice (France, about 2 hours) are good options, especially for low-cost flights.
